They help young people who have business ideas by giving them access to all the resources and networks they need.
A project of ZongoVation Hub, the Zongo Shark Tank Business Reality TV Show aims to find, inspire, and assist young people in Zongo villages throughout Ghana who have business ideas or startups that can help address issues and provide employment. Ten finalists were chosen out of 200 applicants. Three of them won, each receiving GH 10,000 as their prize GH 30,000 in total.
The ST. Kizito R/C Basic School in Nima hosted the Grand Finale of the Zongo Shark Tank on Saturday, October 1, 2022, to choose the ultimate victors, an initiative of zongoVation Hub.
Chairperson for the Grand Finale of the maiden edition of the Zongo Shark Business Reality Show, was Maimartaba Sarki Salisu Maude, Sarkin Samari Hausawan Ankara (Greater Accra). Special Guest for the Grand Finale of the Zongo Shark Tank Business Reality Show Hon. Yussif Jajah, Member of Parliament for Ayawaso North Constituency. Chairman, Allied Consortium Group, Mr Benjamin Quashie was present, and Mr Ahmmed Abdulai Abu, Deputy Director of Political Affairs, Office of the Vice President was present.
Apart from the CEO of Tanko’s Enterprise, the other three winners were the representative of EcoPeriod and Oskhalim Food Processing. The seven remaining finalists were given 5,000 cedis each with a certificate and other items. He recalled how his sister was hit down by a vehicle on her way to go get some groceries and could not get any near their place of residence and had to walk a long distance to get it. She got hit by a vehicle and this inspired him to come up with the idea of creating an enterprise which would solve this basic problem for those in his community. He devised Tanko’s Enterprise.
Tanko’s Enterprise provides goods and services to people in the community, saving life and energy for over 60km far for products. Raise the image of Zongo and Islam at large. In an Interview with Ghana web, he expressed his happiness and said it was the reason why he shed tears. He said he wanted to set up a business in his community and had not really had anyone to invest in until this moment. He spoke about how this money would help him advance his education since he is a student. He spoke about how he wants to expand his business to meet high standards.
Now Mr Yakubu is a proud winner of the Zongo Shark Tank.
