Each startup will get a grant of $5,000 in addition to other types of support.
MEST Express is one of three programs that MEST administers in cooperation with the Mastercard Foundation, together with Pre-MEST and MEST Scale.
Since the MEST Express program’s launch in September 2020, 80 businesses in Ghana have received grants totaling more than $100,000 and have been given priority consideration.
More than 200 employment have been created since it started collaborating with these firms.
The focus of the most recent cohort is on boosting Ghanaian entrepreneurs that provide technology-based solutions to spark revolutionary change and create a more sustainable future for everyone.
At the beginning of the program, the six chosen startups undertook a rigorous requirements assessment to determine the main focus areas. They will now work with experts in the field to develop solutions that are specifically designed to address their requirements and challenges.
The following businesses have received funding: the e-commerce and courier platform Shaq Express; the farmer finance platform Fluid Finance; the baby and maternity e-commerce service Tiny Reusers; the health consulting platform Digital Health Access; the shea production resource provider Sommalife; and the agricultural e-commerce service Africa Goodnest.
The 20-week accelerator program aims to assist early-stage organizations with the knowledge and resources they need to accelerate their growth by offering free training, coaching, resources, and support to participating companies.
Each startup was also given a $5,000 USD grant
