Among the 20 winners of the Migration Entrepreneurship Prize 2022 this year are firms from Nigeria, Ghana, Ethiopia, and Tunisia.

The prize is awarded to socially-driven startups whose goal is to improve migrants’ inclusion in the Middle East and Africa.

The Migration Entrepreneurship Prize, a public-private collaboration between Seedstars and the Peace and Human Rights Division of the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA), aims to strengthen and support regions that are susceptible to significant migration movements, such as the Middle East and Africa, by addressing the root causes of unauthorized migration and enhancing the socioeconomic rights of migrants.

The Migration Entrepreneurship Prize launched its second cohort in response to the success of its first cohort, which saw 20 startups chosen for solutions in the areas of financial services, education, health, and more.

This cohort is looking for socially conscious businesses with the goal of advancing the socioeconomic inclusion of migrants.

Startups from Nigeria, Ghana, Ethiopia, and Tunisia are among the 20 new winners that have been announced.

“We are interested in learning how successful firms will provide immigrants with a chance to work and make a life. According to Jana Röthlisberger, program manager at the FDFA, “entrepreneurship by, with, and for migrants has a significant potential to enhance lives in countries of origin, transit, and destination.”

The winners from around the world will be able to access the Seedstars network of partners, mentors, and investors as well as participate in the Seedstars Investment Readiness Programme.
